evergreen stock prior to mold making

What you need to get started:
RTV
Preferably a reputable brand of RTV or mold making chemical will do. Choice of favorite is the Dow
Corning HS foam from Aluminite. This will afford you many clean pulls from a single mold. Cure time is
24 hours. There are less expensive and quicker cures but  do not hold up to the number of casts and
detail as the Dow Corning. This material (mold) can also be used for metal casting when you use a
low temp metal.

Measuring scale
Any will do that can measure for mixing in grams.
Popsicle sticks.
Used to stir the resin when mixing as the use of
electric stirrers is discouraged because it tends to
add air bubbles. Available at craft stores in a multi
bag.
Kitchen spatulas
Different sizes should be at your disposal to help
pour and or mix the RTV  chemical. Available at a
Dollar store.
Mixing cups
Used in mixing the 2 part chemicals. Make available
several 4 and 8oz cups.
Mold release agents
These are an absolute must when making a 2-part
mold where rubber to rubber exist. Personal choice

according To Bob is the Price-Driscoll Corp. They will upon request  will send a free
sample via mail by mentioning Bob's name. Release is important in the aspect that the 2
cast halves separate easily. When doing metal pouring (actual cast) use a light talc
basting prior to actual casting.
Mold base materials
When used as a base glass works well .It's easy to clean and affords a level surface.
Cardboard, PVC tubes and evergreen stock work best for container boxes assemble with
a hot glue gun for ease. Remember no two mold boxes may be the same so be
adaptable as well as cost effective. Legos work also but take way too long in set-up.
Clay
Used to secure the parts and aid in the preparation of a two part process. Non-sculptured
clay works best but can be hard on the old fingers to kneed. Best a 50-50 mixture of
Plasticene and Kleen clay is good.
