Barris car
This style Bat car first appeared in DC Comics in the late 1938's.
As Bruce Wayne worked on his alter identity in Gotham this car
was the starting of the general bat theme we would come to
associate with him, that would strike fear into the hearts of those
who disobey the law and prey on others. It was the second of
approximately six Bat cars to date to appear publicly.  The first  was
a small red 2 seater sports car as Batman went solo early on. The
colors, I used on this model best represent the color inks used in
the early comics. The 38-9 model was constructed from the AMT
1939 Ford with slight modifications such as the huge bat wing
constructed from bass wood, 4 fender skirts from the kit , some
slight modifications to the hood with 8 exhaust pipes and grill
made from plastic with a stylistic art nouveau look, Bat Head.
When Batman first appeared on TV in the late 60's the style most
associated with him (pictured below) was built by George Barris
and based on the Ford concept car called the Futura.
